Brian Lightman

Leadership Coach, Leadership Trainer, Leadership Key Note

My career in the English and Welsh education services spans nearly 40 years with all of the many different policies, initiatives etc. that have been and gone.

Having finished with full time employment I now work as an education leadership specialist using my experience and knowledge to provide a wide range of consultancy services to schools.

I have no interest in ‘weighing and measuring’ schools. There are enough people doing that. My interest is working with them in their professional quest to improve and develop further in the best interests of their students.

Though the current challenges are well known there has never been any doubt in my mind that the opportunity to work in teaching and school leadership is a massive privilege and pleasure and am deeply positive about the quality of what I see in the large number of schools I visit.

The very best school leaders know that there will always be more that can be done and that even a school that possesses every ‘badge’ under the sun will have areas of relative weakness. My role, as well as recognising, celebrating and sharing the successes is to engage in constructive, private and frank discussion about what is not working well and how those issues can be addressed.

Specialist Area Details
